Petals & Stems Florist
A $1,200 wedding flower order lost when the over-the-phone card was declined. The customer was offended, the flowers were already prepped, and Petals ate the cost.
Sarah remembers the call. The bride's sister wanted to pay over the phone for a $1,200 ceremony arrangement. The card was declined twice. The third attempt went through, but the customer had already gone cold — embarrassed, suspicious of the merchant, refusing to give a different card. The flowers were already cut and arranged.
After that incident, Sarah moved every wedding or funeral order over $300 to a Pay-E paylink. The customer enters the card themselves through Stripe Checkout — no awkward back-and-forth, no PCI exposure for the shop.
Three weddings in the four months following used the new flow without a hitch.
“I'm not a payments person. I'm a florist. The paylink lets me stop pretending I understand cards.”
